THE GPS IN MY PHONE DOESN'T SEEM TO WORK
While the theoretical minimum to get a satellite fix is approximately 40 seconds, in practice the required time is usually a minute or more. This can be shorter if the GPS receiver is restarted in a location where it has been used before, while establishing a GPS connection from a vehicle may take longer.
For best performance, the GPS receiver needs unobstructed satellite visibility. Environmental factors, such as tall buildings or cloudy/rainy weather, can affect signal quality.
If you are having problems establishing GPS reception:
* Make sure that your hand is not covering the GPS receiver.
* If you are indoors, move outdoors and see if the signal improves. If you are outdoors, move to a more open space.
* If you are using a device with an integrated GPS receiver, check the user guide to see where the GPS receiver is located in the device. When using the GPS receiver, hold it upright in your hand at an angle of approximately 45 degrees, with a clear view of the sky.
* Avoid using a screen saver while the GPS connection is being established.
If you still have problems with GPS reception, please bring your Nokia phone and/or Nokia GPS receiver to a Nokia Care point for inspection.
Note: GPS takes its power from the battery. Using an internal GPS receiver or a Bluetooth connection to an external GPS receiver may drain the battery faster.

SPEED UP YOUR GPS CONNECTIVIVITY
These tips will help increase the connectivity speed that it will most likely take about 10 to 30 second at maximum instead of the old-fashioned 5 to 10 minutes we all know.
1. Open the keyboard (slider N95, N96 etc). This depends on your phone.
2. Go to: MENU/TOOLS/SETTINGS/GENERAL/POSITIONING/POSITIONING METHOD. Be sure that “Assisted GPS”, “Integrated GPS” and “Network based” are marked.
Then go back to “POSITIONING” options and select “POSITIONING SERVER”. As an access point, choose the internet access point (note that WLAN and WAP won’t do the trick). And the server address should be “suple.nokia.com”. If not, insert it manually.
Note: this will cost you a little due to data transfer (about 8 kbs only). Later, you can remove these options.
3. Put your phone in an open area or as close as possible to a window with the keyboard slider open (direct the phone outside the window) because the GPS chip is under the keyboard.
4. Launch the mapping app you’re using (Google Maps, Garmin Mobile XT, NOKIA Maps etc) and leave it until there is a GPS connection.

Now you can return the positioning settings back although leaving them will make it even faster. But remember that every time you need to use the GPS, you have to slide-open the keyboard for fast connecting.
1. Open the keyboard (slider N95, N96 etc). This depends on your phone.
2. Go to: MENU/TOOLS/SETTINGS/GENERAL/POSITIONING/POSITIONING METHOD. Be sure that “Assisted GPS”, “Integrated GPS” and “Network based” are marked.
Then go back to “POSITIONING” options and select “POSITIONING SERVER”. As an access point, choose the internet access point (note that WLAN and WAP won’t do the trick). And the server address should be “suple.nokia.com”. If not, insert it manually.
Note: this will cost you a little due to data transfer (about 8 kbs only). Later, you can remove these options.
3. Put your phone in an open area or as close as possible to a window with the keyboard slider open (direct the phone outside the window) because the GPS chip is under the keyboard.
4. Launch the mapping app you’re using (Google Maps, Garmin Mobile XT, NOKIA Maps etc) and leave it until there is a GPS connection.

HOW TO FREE UP RAM MEMORY ON YOUR NSERIES PHONE
Most of the N Series made before the new FP2 devices had suffered from low RAM MEMORY and that is why I decided to post this.
